Santa Fe, New Mexico - October 12, 2026 - The New Mexico Innovation Hub announces the expansion of its campus in Santa Fe Midtown. Plans are set to build 85,000 square feet of new flex industrial space to meet growing market demand. Financing has been approved by the New Mexico Finance Authority through its Opportunity Enterprise Commercial Development fund for $17.5 million.
With a current vacancy rate of .3%, available flex industrial space is virtually non existent in Santa Fe County. Demand for lab/maker space is growing as tech start ups coming out of the universities and national labs need space to launch and grow in the sectors of quantum, advanced energy, climate tech, bio-science and advanced manufacturing.
“Our mission is to create the center of gravity the economy needs to thrive by bringing together the talent, capital, knowledge and community into a collaborative ecosystem,” said David Perez, Founder and CEO. “We provide the physical platform, partnerships and pathways that move ideas from discovery to commercialization, companies from startup to scale and New Mexico toward lasting prosperity.”
This project represents phase two of a multi year development plan. Construction is expected to begin early 2027 with completion slated for mid 2028. A 50,000 square foot office building is planned to be built next with a multi family apartment building following shortly thereafter.
“The New Mexico Innovation Hub is a vital catalyst for the economic development of Santa Fe and northern New Mexico,” said Senate Majority Leader Linda Trujillo. “This development will support the creation of new, high paying jobs and workforce training opportunities our community needs.”
Since opening in January, the New Mexico Innovation Hub has leased over 70,000 square feet in buildings that have been vacant for 8 years at the former University of Santa Fe Art and Design in Santa Fe Midtown. Current tenants include the New Mexico Consortium, Santa Fe Community College, Bandelier Technologies, New Mexico Climate Investment Center, New Collar Network Fab Lab, Liberty Fusion, Prometheon Power, SlazerAI, and Woodruff Engineering.
Space in this development is being pre-leased. For more information visit www.newmexicoinnovationhub.com or email kelly@nm-ih.com
